Having released their first album for Playlouderecordings – last year’s critically acclaimed “A Remix Selection”, which featured 10 of the band’s favourite remixes – Black Strobe return with their first full length debut artist album “Burn Your Own Church.”
Recorded in London during the second half of 2006 with Paul Epworth (Bloc Party/The Rapture) on production duties and Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails/My Bloody Valentine) mixing the record, ‘Burn Your Own Church’ showcases the band’s power of fusing the world’s of dance music and rock music. Few bands have managed to combine rock music and electronics as successfully as Black Strobe have done on ‘Burn Your Own Church.’
The album embraces the bands new found creative freedom to explore the world outside the natural constraints of dance music. It systematically references every genre within Black Strobe’s spectrum of inspiration: from Norwegian black metal to contemporary dance music, this stunning debut soaks it up and spits it out in to a cohesive whole. This attitude is encapsulated by the hypnotic, deviant brute of opening track “Brenn Di Ega Kjerke,” while lead single “Shining Bright Star,” the first album track to introduce Arnaud Rebotini as vocalist, is a dark and thunderous disco-punk anthem full of electronic twists and Big Black basslines.
